NEW YORK, NY – The Professional Animal Care Certification Council (PACCC) today announced that the application process is now in place for pet care education providers to have their courses, programs, or workshops approved for continuing education credits for PACCC certified pet care professionals.
Through independent, third-party testing, PACCC certifies pet care services providers, such as pet sitters, pet boarding and dog daycare staff, and dog walkers, who meet initial requirements, including hours of experience, level of education, and professional recommendations, and then pass an in-depth, written exam taken at an approved testing location. Certification is awarded for three years. To maintain certification, without retesting, certified professionals must obtain a minimum number of approved Continuing Education Units (CEUs). The number of required CEUs varies by level of certification. Currently, PACCC offers certification to become a Certified Professional Animal Care Provider (CPACP) or Certified Professional Animal Care Manager (CPACM).
“PACCC is on a pet safety mission and we know that continuing education is the key to ongoing success,” said Charlotte Biggs, Chair, PACCC CEU Committee. “We are excited to launch the continuing education approval process and be able to direct our certified pet care professionals to high quality educational resources.”
Courses, programs, and workshops submitted by pet care education providers to become PACCC approved continuing education will be reviewed by the PACCC CEU Committee. Those that are approved will be added to PACCC’s approved list which is provided to certified pet care professionals and available on the PACCC website. Pet care education providers are invited to learn more and apply for approval at https://paccert.org/ceu-application.
